This updated
course includes a timeline of HIV/AIDS, from the first known retrovirus
through the latest drug-related research, the epidemiology, the biology,
and pathophysiology of the disease process and how HIV infects the human
genome, causing a multitude of diseases. Upon completion of this course,
participants will be able to understand retroviruses and their complex
genomes, the latest laboratory tests available and how to interpret their
results, how to prevent and protect oneself against HIV/AIDS, the new research
and treatments currently available, and the ethical and legal issues of
this debilitating disease. Information to this course was updated in 2007.
The exam is unchanged in 2007.
